Based: Bradford City Centre, Sir Henry Mitchell House
At Bradford MDC, we want every child to have the best possible start in life. To achieve that vision, we have made significant changes to our Children’s Services in recent years. The aim is to help social workers in Bradford do the job they were trained to do – safely, securely and with specialist support.
Do you want to join us on our ongoing improvement journey?
Right now, our Child and Family teams are looking for highly experienced Level 3 Social Workers who can bring commitment, kindness, emotional engagement, respect and, most importantly, heart to Bradford South.
Where you can make a difference
We aim to put children at the heart of all we do – which is only possible if we put children’s social workers at the heart of all we do.
That’s why we guarantee you a manageable caseload and good work-life balance. We also operate an open-door policy and provide monthly reflective supervision, fortnightly group sessions and access to all kinds of wellbeing support.
Your development as a social worker is important to us too. Progression opportunities within Bradford are excellent, and we’ll make sure you get all the training and support you need to keep moving onwards and upwards in our career.
Above all, we give you the opportunity to bring your skills to one of the most diverse areas of the UK and do the kind of social work you always wanted to - varied, complex, challenging and highly rewarding.
About the role
You will get to do meaningful, direct work with children and their families, as you play a key role in managing long-term child-in-need, child-protection and care-proceedings cases. Your caseload will include some court work.

Living and working in Bradford
Bradford is home to around 534,00 people, making it the fourth largest Metropolitan District in the country. One of the most striking features of the district is its diversity. The area spans lots of sweeping countryside as well as towns, villages and the thriving city of Bradford itself. 37% of the population are from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and nearly a quarter are under the age of 16 (the highest percentage outside London).
It can be a wonderful place to live, with affordable properties, “outstanding” schools and many of England’s finest cities, neighbourhoods and beauty spots within easy reach. But while Bradford inspires much love and pride, it is by no means perfect. Our families and communities face many challenges that urgently need addressing. This makes being a children’s social worker here that bit tougher and more demanding. It also gives you more opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives.
