Job description

We are looking to recruit a Residential Home Manager to lead and have overall management responsibility for an established Calderdale Council Children’s Home.

We are at an exciting time within our residential services as we are investing and increasing our resource so we can care for our own children within Calderdale. We have good and outstanding homes and so we want to create even more, to support our children and young people. The successful applicant, whilst not a definitive list, must demonstrate the following:

• Level 5 Management Qualification or nationally recognised equivalent.

• Have a minimum of 2 years experience in Managing a Registered Childrens Home

• Ability to lead and support a staff team who are providing excellent care to our children and young people.

• Ability to coach and mentor staff, influence effective change and maintaining high standards.

• Ability to make informed and safe decisions centred on operational practices in line with the organisations policies and procedures.

• Ability to deliver training to staff and delegates supporting learning linked to operational practices.

• Ability to work in a fast paced, pressured, ever changing environment to ensure high standards of professional practice are consistent with legislation, statutory guidance and evidence-based outcomes.

• Applicants will have significant experience of working with young people with behavioural and emotional difficulties who can support and lead teams to provide a quality and homely environment for the young people who live there.

The successful Applicant will be comprehensively invested within the role, a passionate and dynamic Manager who will have an innovative outlook to service development and change.

• Applicants will have good experience and knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 including the Quality Standards and Social Care Common Inspection Framework.

• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, partners, the wider service and engaged with the Regulatory process, including stakeholders.

• Experience of Managing/Co-Managing a Children’s Home including supervisory responsibility supporting the development of staff.

The post holder will be required to confidently undertake a ‘Fit Person’ Interview with Ofsted.
