Do you want to see children remaining close to their families, in their community and school wherever possible? Fostering North Yorkshire is a county service committed to developing excellent practice. Comprised of two large teams across North Yorkshire with dedicated roles, providing the supervision and support to our approved foster carers. Along with peers who are equally dedicated in the recruitment and assessment of North Yorkshire, foster carers. We have local teams in Scarborough, Selby, Knaresborough and Northallerton.
Are you a qualified Social Worker or awaiting Registration with Social Work England? Do you understand fostering and the impact of childhood adverse trauma? You will need to be committed to seeking excellent outcomes for children through building productive working relationships with a wide range of services to support our fostering families. This role will predominantly focus on the assessments of potential foster carers including unrelated foster carers and our family friends foster carers. You will need to be a confident practitioner and able to develop our foster carers in meeting children’s needs.
You will be joining a highly motivated team seeking to deliver high quality foster care in line with the National Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards for both family and friend foster carers and unrelated foster carers. You will need to be familiar with the assessment process for foster carers and that standards that need to be met. North Yorkshire's assessment tool is based on the secure base model and signs of safety.

The service very much promotes flexible working with the ability to work remotely from a variety of bases and from home. The post involves a degree of working outside normal office hours for home visits and group work.
The role is currently based at White Rose House Northallerton, however there is some flexibility to this base and although this post is full time, we may also some be able to consider part time also (as well as). By the nature of fostering assessments, there is an expectation that some travel to other parts of the county and further afield is needed. Please do phone to enquire.
