About Us:

Bradford Children and Families Trust was established in April 2023 to bring a step change in the quality and delivery of Children’s Services across our district.

Our purpose is clear - to ensure that our promise to improve the lives of children and young people in Bradford becomes a reality. It’s a tough ask. It requires dedication, determination, and resilience – but under a new Chief Executive, Senior Leadership team and an unswerving drive to deliver the best outcomes, we are confident that we will achieve our ambition.

Working for the Bradford Children and Families Trust offers the opportunity to work with some great people who are passionate about delivering change in a city whose culture offers as much diversity as it’s geography. You can make a real difference to families and children and be an active part in delivering the service Bradford families should receive.

About the role:

As a Practice Supervisor in the Leaving Care service, you will support Social Workers and Personal Advisors and you’ll help us achieve our aim of delivering outcomes for the children in care  and care leavers. The role of a practice supervisor in leaving care services is unique, as you’ll be supporting practitioners working both children in care (16 and 17 year olds) and those leaving care aged 18-25.

This role is not a case holding role, and so you will be able to drive practice and high standards with children at the heart of everything you do. You will be passionate about excellent social work practice and achieving the best outcomes for our young people.

We are looking for a dynamic, creative individual with a passion for good practice and the development of others. You will know what “good” looks like and have the skills to work with students, newly qualified social workers, experienced social workers and personal advisors to support practice development so that we are confident that our young people are experiencing excellence form our workforce.

The role of the Practice Supervisor is a critical role, working closely with the Practice Supervisor group to embed practice expectations within the service. You will support the Team Manager in their role by having oversight of practice, holding reflective case discussions with the team, quality assuring work and having some involvement in performance management as a way of measuring the impact of training and development on practice.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Workforce and Learning Service as well as the Student and ASYE programme leads.

You must demonstrate resilience with a good understanding of the complexities of children’s social work. If you have significant experience of managing complex case work and have a proven track record of the development of good practice, then we would love to hear from you.

We are passionate about positive social work practice, and we strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and families we work with. Children and young people are at the heart of everything we do. We have a model of practice which is based in relationships using a strength-based approach, and recognising the individual experiences that people have and the potential impact of these experiences.

Here in Bradford, we lead from the front, and we know our most valuable resource is our staff, helping us to meet the needs of our communities. We have built a strong culture of listening to our staff and involving them to ensure every child receives the right help.

Bradford is a great place to build your career. You’ll receive an extensive training and support package that will help you develop as a professional, a manageable workload that will enable you to make a difference and the backing of a supportive leadership team.

About you:

Essentially you will have:

  •        At least 4 years recent experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and families in need to support sustained improvements.
  •        Of these 4 years, 3 years must be post-qualification with a minimum of 6 months as an experienced social worker. Paid or voluntary work in a similar, relevant field will be considered at application stage
  •  It is desirable that you already hold the stage 2 practice educator award or show a willingness to start the award within 6 months of starting in the post.
  •       Recent experience in chairing meetings with professionals and family members.
  •       Dip.SW, CQSW, BA (Hons) Social Work or equivalent professional qualifications.
  •       Have a full driving license and car available for work (unless a disability prevents this).

An enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service will be undertaken for this post.
