Partnership Officer – Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP)
The East Riding Safeguarding Children Partnership (ERSCP) currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to join the ERSCP Business Unit as the Partnership Office Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP). This is a varied and interesting role which can be challenging at times but is ideal for someone who is able to use their own initiative, work independently within a large child safeguarding and health system. The post holder will report to the ERSCP Business Unit Manager. The ERSCP Business Unit is hosted within the Children Young People Support & Safeguarding Services (CYPSSS). This is a permanent post.
The Job itself:
The post holder will manage the Child Death Review process for the East Riding in accordance with Child Death Review Guidance Statutory and Operational Guidance 2018 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018. This includes receiving and acting on notifications of child deaths, co-ordination of a range of statutory and non-statutory meetings across wider partner agencies, interpretation, analysis, and compilation of reports in a timely and sensitive manner. The post holder will be working closely with the Business Unit Manager, Designated Professionals for Child Death and the CDOP Chairperson, coordinating the child death review process on behalf of the East Riding, from point of notification of a child’s death to the Child Death Review being scrutinised by multi-agency professionals at the Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP). The post holder will also work with colleagues across the safeguarding system and public health in the promotion of child safeguarding and public health activity which contributes to good child health outcomes with the aim to reduce unintentional injury and child death. The post holder must be committed to safeguarding and promote the welfare of children, young people, and adults, raising concerns as appropriate.
Day-to-day duties:
The post holder will be the lead coordinator for the Child Death Review Process and single point of contact for multi-agency partners in the event of a child death including:
- Immediate instigation of the Joint Agency Response meetings ensuring all relevant services involved in the care of the child are present.
- Minuting the meetings and support the chair to ensure all relevant information is captured and actions are recorded and reviewed at the initial and subsequent meetings.
- Notification of each Child Death to the relevant services in a timely manner.
- Plan arrangements and action plan monitoring processes to assist the Child Death Reviews.
- Monitor the actions arising from minutes of Child Death Review meetings, ensuring relevant individuals are aware of the required response and timescales and follow up where needed.
- Ensure the Child Death Review Panel is compliant with the reporting requirements of NHS Digital.
- Ensure closure of a deceased child’s records on all relevant ERYC systems
- Point of contact between the Child Death Review and Coroner Offices and registrars.
