Grade: JK 

Contract: Permanent 

Hours: Full time 

Location: Scarborough, South East with flexible work bases and hybrid working available 

 

Are you an experienced social worker seeking a new challenge? Would you like an opportunity to work in the Fostering Service?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the fostering service as an Assessing Social Worker for the Fostering Assessing social worker – South East Fostering Team, the base would be Scarborough and line managed by Jennifer Boyd.   

We fully recognise the need to support our staff to develop and enhance their skills and experience. We want you to make a difference by sharing expertise, providing leadership and direction to social workers. You will be responsible for maintaining local links with your colleagues in safeguarding, looked after children’s teams and wider social care teams to support care planning.

We are a strong performing fostering service supporting unrelated and connected foster carers across the county. We are proud that the service continues to embed its core values of providing and supporting local children in local placements.

We have two large teams providing the assessment and supervision and support to all approved foster carers across the whole of the county.

The successful candidate will join a county fostering service committed to developing excellent practice in line with the Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards. You will need to be committed to developing excellent outcomes for children through creating productive working relationships with a wide range of services to support our fostering families.

Applicants would benefit from an understanding of the whole fostering process, but specifically the requirements to assess Foster Carers.  In addition, you should be familiar with the statutory responsibilities throughout their on-going approval.

 

The post could involve a degree of working outside normal office hours for home visits and group work.

 

The role of assessing social worker is the assessment of unrelated and connected foster carers for North Yorkshire. Part of this role is to progress assessments in a timely manner, and presenting to fostering panel and progressing the Skills to foster course. The assessing social workers are part of the wider fostering team that assess, support and supervise all foster carers across the county.
