Here at North Yorkshire Council, we are extremely proud of the work our Children’s Services do; their hard work has been recently recognised by Ofsted in our 2023 review, rating us as Outstanding across all areas.

We are now pleased to be offering the opportunity to join our highly acclaimed service and help us continue to offer an excellent provision within the Fostering Team.  We are a strong performing fostering service supporting unrelated and connected foster carers across the county.

We are proud that the service continues to embed its core values of providing and supporting local children in local placements. We have two large teams providing the supervision and support to all approved foster carers across the whole of the county.

The successful candidate will join a county fostering service committed to developing excellent practice in line with the Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards. You will need to be committed to developing excellent outcomes for children through creating productive working relationships with a wide range of services to support our fostering families. Within this role you will be responsible for the supervision and day to day support of a team of Fostering Social Workers  who complete the fostering assessments of North Yorkshire Kinship and unrelated foster carers and the supervision of Fostering Support Workers who are involved in completing Initial visits. This is implemented through monitoring and maintaining the Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards.

We are looking for an experienced social worker who is ready to take the next step in their professional career or someone who is currently a Practice Supervisor wanting to join our team who has substantial case management experience, who are able to supervise on a day-to-day basis with effective social work practice to a busy team.

We fully recognise the need to support our staff to develop and enhance their skills and experience. We want you to make a difference by sharing expertise, providing leadership and direction to social workers. You will be responsible for maintaining local links with your colleagues in safeguarding, looked after children’s teams and wider social care teams to support care planning.
