An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Children’s Advocacy Officer to join a high performing team dedicated to representing children and young people’s voice as part of a wider team. Within this role, you will work directly with children and young people in a variety of forums to support them to share their voice, experiences and ideas.

Their voice and experiences are valued and listened to in informing the design and delivery of our integrated offer. Ofsted stated in 2022 that “There is a genuine commitment to seeking continuous feedback from children and families, which is consolidated into service development. Children have a clear voice in decisions that affect their lives, ensuring that services are shaped around their needs”.

The Team are committed to promoting children’s rights. They offer effective and high quality representation including independent advice, information, safety and prevention, support and specialist advocacy to children and young people.

The successful post holder will be responsible for offering a specialist advocacy service to children and young people. This role supports working with children and young people who go missing from home or care and supporting wider voice and participation aspects.

The role offers safety and prevention work with access to a range of tools and resources.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience of supporting and safeguarding children and young people. You should have the ability to communicate in a professional, positive and creative way with a range of people across organisations.

You should be committed to supporting and promoting children’s rights, with a strong value base. The post holder will effectively and meaningfully support children and young people to represent their views and advocate for things that work well and support any areas for change and improvement to ensure they have access to the right level of support.

The successful candidate will be confident in delivering high quality relational practice that supports children, young people and families to share their views and experience. You will be energetic and enthusiastic, as well as empathetic. You will have experience of working directly with and engaging children and young people, have a good understanding of child development and the things that matter and make a difference to children and young people.

The post holder will work their contracted hours flexibly to accommodate the needs of children and young people for example consultation and other voice events often take place after 5pm and on some weekends.
