Job description

We are excited to advertise for the role of a Social Worker to join our Assessment and Targeted intervention service . As a service we welcome applications from newly qualified to experienced social workers to join our dynamic friendly teams.

 

As an assessment social worker, you are responsible for supporting families from the start of their journey into Children’s Services. You will complete initial Child and Family assessments, identifying risk and need and making recommendations for ongoing support from a longer-term team or a short-term intervention within our team. This provides social workers the opportunity to put support in place, make positive changes and to empower families to achieve their goals. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to working with the children and young people of York to make sustainable changes and improve outcomes for children.

 

It is an exciting time to join us in York! We are undertaking a significant roll out of the Signs of Safety model and a significant investment in staff training. We have a clear career pathway for social workers in York. We welcome applications from newly qualified social workers through to those with more experience. If you have more experience (three years post qualifying experience) we may offer to directly recruit you as a Senior Social Worker at a higher grade. Please speak to us if this is of interest.

 

Candidates will need to be highly motivated and committed to ensuring timescales are met to ensure our young people receive a good quality service. The candidate will need to be able to work independently, with skills in working within timescales and with conflicting priorities.

 

It is critical that the candidate has excellent written and oral communication skills.  The preparation of clear, analytical and coherent reports is a requirement of this post.  Assessing need and writing children’s plans which include the voice of children, young people and families throughout the process is essential.

This post is a hybrid role with a blend of working from council offices as well as remotely. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
