North Yorkshire Council have a national reputation for excellence and we are looking for a SEN Casework Officer with a variety of experience and skills.  We also welcome those who are looking to relocate.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing multidisciplinary SEND team.  We are passionate about promoting high aspirations and expectations for children and young people, and we are looking for a SEN casework Officer to join us as we champion the need of children and young people with high need SEND (0-25) and their families.

As a SEN Casework Officer, you will work with children and young people and their families through the statutory assessment process for SEND, holding a caseload of approximately 240 cases.  The role will involve communicating effectively and working collaboratively with a variety of partner agencies and organisations both internally within NYC and externally to coordinate Education, Health and Care assessments and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP's) in line with statutory guidance.

The post sits within the wider inclusion team where additional support for children and young people with SEN is available from the SEND hub services and where appropriate the medical education service. North Yorkshire SEN team is also supported throughout the administration process of the statutory assessment by the Business admin team.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with children and young people with SEND, or additional needs in children's services including management of cases with complex legal, professional and ethical issues including case conferences and other statutory processes and procedures.  You will be responsible for managing an caseload of children and young people with either EHCPs or undergoing statutory assessment whilst providing professional expertise around the SEND process and relevant legislation and guidance.  You will be focused on achieving positive life outcomes, establishing respectful, trusting relationships with children, young people, their families and carers.

Please contact Nicola Machon, Lead for SEND, at nicola.machon@northyorks.gov.uk if you would like more information about this post before applying.

Enhanced Level DBS Disclosure is required for appointment to this post.

Closing date: 11 June 2023

Interview date: 16 June 2023
