Job description

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen in our Vulnerable, Exploited, Missing and Trafficked Team (VEMT) for a Social Worker to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with a keen interest in working with chilldren at risk of, or subject to exploitation. 

This is a permanent position, available to Grade 8 or 9 Social Workers. 

We are looking for:

  • Candidates with a strong child-centred value base that informs your work with children, young people and families;
  • a relentless commitment to quality - and to be able to talk about what good practice 'looks like' for children, young people and families;
  • a capacity for honest reflection and openness to learning;
  • an ability to build relationships and communicate with children and families.
  • Candidates with experience in working with Children and Young People who are at risk of, or have been subject to Exploitation and Modern Day Slavery
  • Candidates must have some understanding of Contextual Safeguarding, including Hull City Council's LERM and MACE process.
  • An ideal candidate would be someone experienced in working within Contextual Safeguarding, and with the desire to effect change for our cities most Vulnerable Children. 

Unfortunately we are unable to accept applications from any employees who have recently left Hull City Council under the Early Termination of Employment Scheme.  Those that left under this scheme are not eligible for re-employment by the Council for a period of 5 years from the date of leaving.
