Are you passionate about supporting young people to take their next steps? Do you want to make a difference to the lives of young care leavers? Do you have experience of supporting young people who have come into care as unaccompanied asylum seeking children and are now care leavers

.

We have an opportunity to join the team as a Leaving Care Case Worker, a post that is fundamental to ensuring the best outcomes for our young people leaving care.

As a Leaving Care Case Worker, you will manage a case load of young people between the ages of 16 and 25 years old.  You will be a point of contact, provide essential advice and support and develop a long term relationship with your young people.

Based in one of the 4 localities, Knaresborough, Selby, Northallerton or Scarborough but having a county wide role, you will assess and review the needs of the young people in, and who have left, public care, as well as planning and providing support to meet their assessed needs and triple planning.

As a Leaving Care Case Worker you will be a confident communicator and act as a role model to the young people you support through the advice and guidance you provide. This may include assisting care leavers with adjusting to the next stage of their life such as moving into accommodation, help with budgeting and household management, as well as assistance with education, training and employment.  You will also offer support to young people whilst they navigate the immigration system, a second language would be highly desirable.

We stick with our young people wherever they go, and relationship building is a key requirement of this role. You will travel across the country depending where your young people are living.

You will be committed to providing positive outcomes for care leavers by completing essential documents to map out their future journey such as the Pathway Plan. You will be a key worker for the young person when they have left care.

In return, we can offer you a comprehensive benefits package including flexible working, a local government pension scheme, family friendly leave, salary sacrifice, learning and development packages and employee discount benefits.  The post is paid at Grade I - qualifications are desirable, not essential.

We are committed to meeting the needs of our diverse community and aim to have a workforce reflecting this diversity. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
