Grade 9 £35,438 - £39,513 depending on experience

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity to be part of our innovative way of supporting young people and families in Doncaster as we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Social Worker to join our developing Inspiring Futures - Leaving Care Service - Unaccompanied Asylum Seeker team here at Doncaster Children’s Services CDC.

 

This role will have a primary focus on supporting young people who are seeking asylum in the UK and who have arrived in Doncaster. This will include young people who are part of the National Transfer Scheme, the National Dispersal Scheme and also those who are spontaneous arrivals in the area.

 

The post holder will have the appropriate training and experience of Age Assessments so they can lead and undertake Merton compliant assessments of age for those young people who are in Doncaster and may be Unaccompanied Children. It is expected that the successful applicant will also have significant experience in supporting young people to navigate the complexities of the asylum process, have undertaken Human Rights Act assessments and have supported young people to become established in the UK and to access appropriate services. Should the applicant not have this experience then the willingness to complete the necessary training is required. 

 

You should have experience of working with children, young people and their families, and we would particularly welcome those applicants who have recent experience working with Looked After and Care Experienced young people. You need to be committed to achieving positive outcomes for young people who have multiple vulnerabilities and face barriers to success in many areas of their lives. You should have a proven track record of establishing positive and meaningful relationships with young people and be able to manage challenges and balance multiple demands on your time. Having well-developed report writing and planning skills is a key requirement of the post.

 

Our leaving care service is a busy team working with a growing number of young people. With our partners across Doncaster, we aim to develop a high quality service provision. The successful candidate will support a number of in Children in Care and will be responsible for pathway planning and supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes in all aspects of their lives.
