The role requires the manager to have a good, developed understanding of the Refuge journey including working with the National Referral Mechanism, National Age Assessment Bureau, Migration Yorkshire and varied other multi-agency professionals to ensure the emotional and physical needs of the young refugees are met.
Candidates must be social work qualified and Social Work England registered with performance management experience.
The team is made up of a combination of Social Workers and Personal Advisors who are responsible for undertaking age assessments, health assessments, single assessments and present information to Legal Gateway.
The Personal Advisors are responsible for pathway plans post 18yrs and ensuring that the young people have the skills to live independently ensuring housing, budgeting and health and wellbeing for example are key to successful and safe integration into the community.
The SFM has full oversight of all of the above and is responsible for reporting on the numbers of young people to the ensure that Sheffield City Council can claim the allowances available for the young people accommodated by SCC.
