We have an exciting opportunity for a Habilitation officer to join The Inclusion Service within North Yorkshire Council. This is a great time to join our specialist team which supports the achievements of Vision Impaired Children and Young People (CYP). Within the service we provide information, advice, support, direct teaching, and training to children and young people, families and staff within settings. We also work in a multi-agency  in partnership with other teams and offer advice and support with the provision of specialist VI equipment for individuals.

The post is peripatetic and part of the wider Inclusion Service. The Sensory Service is made up of the Vision Support Team and Hearing Support Team. We work with children and young people across North Yorkshire in the home, nursery and mainstream and special educational settings, from 0-25 year olds.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Habilitation Officer who is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with a vision loss, if you feel this is you then we would love to hear from you. As the Habilitation Officer we require you to have the relevant specialist qualification to work in this role as well as be able to provide excellent practice in provision to pupils and support to teachers/support staff and families. And be able to collaborate with Teachers of Vision (QTVI) and VI SPs (Specialist Practitioners for Vision) effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will need to have the ability to work independently with a high level of efficiency and self-organisation.

Due to the role being specialist we will need you to have experience of peripatetic working and have experience working across different settings and within the age range 0-25. As this role is Countywide we do require you to be able to have access to transport enabling them to travel over a wide rural area.

We look forward to exploring your interest and receiving your application.
