Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen in North Lincolnshire’s Youth Justice Partnership (YJP) for a Team Manager to join our team. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hard working and committed individual to be part of our highly innovative and motivated ‘Child First’ offer.

Everyone at North Lincolnshire Council shares a commitment to enabling resilience and helping families stay together. Ofsted stated in 2022 that "Children benefit from a consistently high standard of social work practice. The commitment to children as a priority for the council and across the partnership is exemplary. Senior leaders have created a culture in which social work has flourished. It is based on the importance of relationships, and of promoting children’s sense of being loved and cared for."

The pace is fast and the work can be complex. You will need excellent engagement and communication skills and the ability to effectively manage children and young people subject to statutory Court Orders in both community and custodial settings, as well as through our diversionary and early intervention work.

You must be able to plan and organise your work, have natural professional curiosity and be able to work in a multi-agency manner in line with our one family approach. You must have a can-do attitude as this work can be very demanding at times but at the same time extremely rewarding.

As a Team Manager, you will ensure all work is underpinned by the YJB Child First approach where children under 18 years old who commit an offence are treated as a child first and supported to build on their strengths, and will listen to their wishes and feelings to inform delivery focused upon the child’s needs and desistance from further offending.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a group of case managers and specialist staff, including oversight and quality assurance of assessments and intervention to reduce reoffending by young people in line with National Standards and our Annual Youth Justice Plan.

The successful candidate ideally will have:

  • Knowledge/experience of trauma informed practice

  • Knowledge/experience of working in criminal justice/children’s social care

  • Relevant qualification e.g. Degree in social work, criminology, youth work, probation

  • Experience of supervising/managing staff

  • Knowledge/experience of risk analysis and safeguarding practice

To apply and be considered for this position your application will clearly evidence the job description and employee specification attached.
