We have available a Full time permanent vacancy for a Child Protection Co-ordinator (CPC) in our Quality Assurance and Involvement service.
Our ambition is to support children and young people to be safe and supported to reach their full potential. Therefore, to chair the conferences and reviews for our children we need the very best enthusiastic and child focused social workers, who have significant post qualifying experience of working with children and families in a local authority social care setting.
The purpose of this role is to chair Child Protection Conferences using the Signs of Safety model, to monitor and review the progress of plans, safeguarding arrangements and monitoring and reporting on safeguarding practice guidance. The role includes, promoting the voice of the child, inclusion of the child’s network into safety and care planning and to monitor the performance of the multi-agency arrangements.
A CPC should be authoritative and professional as part of the Conference process and evidence that they are knowledgeable of what makes for good quality practice in working with children and families to safeguard and promote their welfare. This would include working autonomously, having significant experience and skills in safety planning and Chairing complex multi-agency meetings. A CPC will also provide consultation and advise to a wide range of practitioners to promote best practice and good outcomes for children and young people.
Additional duties in this role includes to act as Designated Officer (LADO) and to support the child death overview process working alongside the Sheffield Children’s safeguarding partnership.
In order to promote consistency for children in Sheffield, we are keen to develop a flexible workforce to support both our Conference and Reviewing services and a service review is planned to explore and develop this work. In appointing to this role, we would therefore welcome workers who may also have experience of, and who are committed to, undertaking statutory reviews for our children looked after alongside the Chairing of Child Protection Case Conferences. You will need to have significant social work post qualification experience and be registered with Social Work England.
