Systemic practice lies at the heart of our vision to a continuing improvement journey. The Children’s Assessment Team comprises of four pods each consisting of five social workers, one advance practitioner and managed by a Practice Manager. Each pod undertakes a duty role on a four-week rota.
An opportunity has arisen for a Practice Manager within the Children’s Assessment Team for a suitable experienced person. You will join a supportive management group and work closely with the other Practice Mangers to ensure we provide an effective and robust service.
Within the Children’s Assessment Team (CAT) there are four Pods with a staff complement of 20 social workers, 3 Advance Practitioners and 4 Practice Managers. Each pod comprises of 5 social workers and a Practice Manager. The 3 Advance Practitioners are assigned to three of the Pods.
The Practice Manager has a fundamental role in providing management oversight and scrutiny of the work undertaken within a systemic model, ensuring safeguarding cases are responded to and assessments are undertaken in a timely manner, appropriate plans are formulated, and the correct procedures are adhered to. They also provide regular supervision and support to the staff in their Pod, as well as the team when required.
Applicants should have an in-depth knowledge of social work with children, young people, and families; particularly focused around those children subject to child protection plans, children in need and care proceedings alongside recent experience of social work supervision including supervision of students.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Care qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
Calderdale will reimburse the post holders required professional membership, annually.
