This investment in special educational needs services will better support our children and families in the Borough.

Calderdale Council has an excellent reputation for its work with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

We are at the forefront of innovative and outstanding practice in enabling young people with SEND to achieve the very best educational, and other, outcomes. We have recently joined the SEND Change Partnership which will allow us to be at the forefront of the SEND & AP Reforms.

The SEN Team work tirelessly in fulfilling the council’s statutory duties in relation to Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments and plans.

They work with a wide range of agencies and partners including children, young people and their families, to enable a co-produced coordinated assessment of children and young people’s needs.

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of the SEN Team whilst supporting and advising senior management in ensuring the Local Authority meets the statutory requirements of the SEN code of practice and relevant legislation.

Calderdale is delivery partner of the DfE SEND and AP improvement plan and of the local SEND and AP Partnership. The successful candidate will build on the work already underway and contribute to the strategic planning and commissioning to assist the testing of the reforms.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced leader, with demonstrable experience of leading teams to achieving enhanced performance.

We are looking for a candidate with significant knowledge of, and who can evidence practical application of, the Children and Families Act 2014 and relevant legislative framework, and who can lead and coach others in this regard.

Successful candidates will demonstrate how they are able to instill confidence of the SEN agenda in school leaders, families and colleagues across the borough.
