North Yorkshire County Council have a national reputation for excellence and we are looking for Social Workers across our Family Assessment and Support Teams in the east of the county. We also welcome those who are looking to relocate.
About the role
Our Family Assessment and Support Teams work with children, young people and the families who are Children in Need and Child Protection.
We have high aspirations for our children and young people and always strive to work collaboratively with families and young people, working strongly with the belief that each child and young person has a network around them, which is essential to work alongside and tap into.
The role is very varied as we work with families on a short term basis whilst completing assessments and on a longer term basis working Child and Family Plans and Child Protection Plans and in some cases we complete pre proceedings work and issue care proceedings. We work with all young people from birth up to the age of 18 having strong links with other agencies externally and teams in North Yorkshire.
Social Workers are supported by new technology which means that time is freed up to spend it away from the computer and with young people. We are looking for Social Workers with a ‘can do’ attitude who are child focussed, like to think outside of the box and are creative in their planning with children. It does not matter whether you are starting out in your social work career, returning to practice or an experienced worker looking for a new challenge in either a different field or new authority.
North Yorkshire County Council covers Scarborough and Ryedale, Hambleton and Richmondshire, Selby, Harrogate, Ripon and Skipton. There are 10 Family Assessment and Support Teams across these localities to support recruitment from a number of different areas and we encourage hybrid working in the offices as well as working at home.
About us
The Family Assessment and Support Teams each consists of a Team Manager and two Practice Supervisors who will provide you with monthly personal and reflective supervision at a minimum. Each team has dedicated administrative support and there are Social Workers in training throughout the workforce. We hold regular group supervisions, individual supervisions and opportunities to participate in County Wide practice model sessions and training is provided to develop your skills. The teams are creative in the ways they work with families and no two plans look the same.
North Yorkshire has clear career progression pathways as your development is important us.
