Job description

Post Ref: CC141

Please note: Priority applicants will be seen in the first instance.

This role is part of Calderdale’s ambition to ensure that Children, Young People and Families receive the right support at the right time.

The role sits within Early Intervention and Targeted Support which offer a range of specialist services to young people aged 0-25 and their families who need additional support.

Calderdale Young Carers Service works with children and young people aged 8-18 years who care for someone they live with. Our service aims to reduce the impact of the caring role and increase the resilience of the child or young person through a range of targeted interventions and respite activities.

The Young Carers Worker would undertake statutory assessments of young carers in accordance with the young carer regulations so that the Local Authority meets its statutory requirements.

Provide a range of support services to young carers based on their individual needs to minimise any impact that caring may have on a child’s physical, emotional and educational development.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children and young people, have a good understanding of the issues affecting young carers and be committed to working towards improving outcomes for young carers by providing quality assessments of their needs and targeted pieces of work.

This post requires flexible working including some evening and weekend work.

Employees of the Council enjoy a comprehensive reward and benefits package, which includes generous terms and conditions of employment and access to a wide range of retail discounts and lifestyle savings to name a few.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
