This It is an exciting time to join our diverse team here at North Yorkshire Council as a Wraparound Childcare Co-ordinator.
This is a brand-new role that has been created due to the government’s ambition which is by 2026 all parents, carers and guardians of primary school children will have access to term time childcare in their local area from 8am to 6pm. This is to support the government’s aim for parents, carers and guardians to be able access employment or increase their working hours. The wraparound programme will begin from September 2024.
The role will involve working collaboratively with teams across the local authority as well as with schools, families, out of school clubs, early years childcare providers and external partners.
The role will involve working closely with the Early Years Strategy Manager and colleagues to identify where there is currently sufficient wraparound provision and where new or expanded wraparound provision is required across the county to meet parental demand. The role will act as the designated wraparound lead for the local authority and will be involved in the development and testing of models to ensure wraparound provision is set up where required to meet the needs of the local school community. The role will be responsible for monitoring the quality of wraparound provision and working with providers to make improvements by providing further support.
The role will be key in supporting strategies to ensure that the local authority meets statutory duties.
You will work with colleagues to manage, support and deliver grant funded incentives such as the Department of Education’s capital grants that are allocated to the local authority for the wraparound programme.
With an understanding of current policies and legislative work you will be proactive in responding to changes.
We will need you to have:
· An understanding of current legislation and policies relevant to Early Years childcare and education
· Have experience working with families
· Experience of monitoring and improving service quality
· The ability to meet objectives and deliver targets
