Fostering Practice Supervisor Assessments – South East Fostering Team.

Are you an experienced social worker seeking a new challenge?  Would you like an opportunity to work in the Fostering Service?

We are recruiting a permanent part time assessment practice supervisor based in the South East area, the base could be Scarborough or Selby, managed by Portia Staveley.

We fully recognise the need to support our staff to develop and enhance their skills and experience. We want you to make a difference by sharing expertise, providing leadership and direction to social workers.

You will be responsible for maintaining local links with your colleagues in safeguarding, looked after children’s teams and wider social care teams to support care planning. We are a strong performing fostering service supporting unrelated and connected foster carers across the county.

We are proud that the service continues to embed its core values of providing and supporting local children in local placements.

We have two large teams providing the supervision and support to all approved foster carers across the whole of the county. We would welcome applications from experienced qualified social workers, with substantial case management experience, who are able to supervise on a day to day basis with effective social work practice to a busy team.

The successful candidate will join a county fostering service committed to developing excellent practice in line with the Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards. You will need to be committed to developing excellent outcomes for children through creating productive working relationships with a wide range of services to support our fostering families.

Applicants would benefit from an understanding of the whole fostering process, but specifically the requirements to assess, support and supervise Foster Carers.

In addition, you should be familiar with the statutory responsibilities throughout their on-going approval. Experience of supervising and managing staff would be advantageous. The post could involve a degree of working outside normal office hours for home visits and group work. The role of Practice Supervisor for assessment will supervise and support a small dedicated team of assessing social workers who assess unrelated and connected foster carer for North Yorkshire. Part of this role is to progress assessments in a timely manner, including the gate keeping and signing of completed assessments prior to fostering panel and progressing the Skills to foster course. The assessing social workers are part of the wider fostering team that assess, support and supervise all foster carers across the county. The Practise Supervisor (South East) post can be based at Scarborough or Selby.
