Deputy Manager, Cherry Tree Lodge, Scarborough

 

Grade: JK
Salary: £37,035 to £41,511 per annum pro rata
Contract: Fixed term, 6 months
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Location: Cherry Tree Lodge, Scarborough 

 

We are seeking a new Deputy Manager to join our team at Cherry Tree Lodge, Residential Short Breaks Service. As a registered children's home, we provide short breaks for children with disabilities, including those with complex health needs, autism, neurodiversity.  Our staff receive regular training and a comprehensive induction to meet these needs.

 

Responsibilities:
• Support the Registered Manager in the daily management and leadership of the service.
• Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
• Attend key meetings and ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements.
• Manage rota preparation, health and safety, staff supervision, and appraisals.

 

Role Requirements:
• Experience working with children and young people.
• Completed or willing to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management of Children’s Homes (or relevant qualification).
• Demonstrate leadership and provide on-the-ground support.
• Strong communication skills, organized, detail-oriented, and child-focused.
• Experience in a regulated care setting and working with children or adults with disabilities.
• Experience in a multi-agency environment and IT competence.

The ideal candidate will be child-focused, able to advocate for and empower young people, and lead teams to work to the best of their ability. Building sustainable and meaningful relationships is key, as is the ability to drive change and find innovative solutions.

 

Additional Information:
• Hours are primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional additional hours as needed.
• Participation in an out-of-hours standby rota for other residential short breaks services across North Yorkshire, with an allowance paid.
• Enhanced Level DBS Disclosure required.
• This is a politically restricted post as defined by the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
