Job description

This is an exciting time to join Barnsley Children’s Service as we’re a council that prioritises Children’s Services, and we want every child in the borough to achieve their full potential, to be safe and happy.  Because we highly value the work of our Social Workers, we’ve approved significant additional investment, creating more posts to support Social Workers in the valuable work that they do. Additionally, we have increased the management support to Social Workers, and we are now looking to recruit highly motivated, enthusiastic, and committed professional Team Managers to join our stable workforce. Could that be you?

We have vacancies in the Integrated Front Door, Assessment and Joint Investigation Team, Children in Care, Disabled Children’s Team, Future Directions and Children and Young Peoples Team.

We are deeply committed to achieving the very best outcomes for vulnerable children and young people in Barnsley. Children and their families are at the centre of all that we do, and our practice is underpinned by a strength based and relational model. This means supporting our social workers to develop relationships and to really know and understand children; to have the support to produce excellent assessment and analytical skills; apply evidence-based interventions and direct work. To develop the confidence and skills to make timely decisions and plans for children that will achieve positive and sustainable outcomes for their future.

We are an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ authority and remain highly aspirational to deliver ‘even better’ services and outcomes for children, young people, and their families in the borough.

Why it’s great to work in Barnsley:

  • A highly competitive social work salary up to £49,590 for experienced managers
