The Youth Justice Service is a multi-disciplinary team formed in 2000 to intervene with children at risk of offending or re offending.
The service includes a Specialist Nurse, CAMHS worker, Police Officer, Victim Liaison Officer and a Speech and Language Therapist.
We undertake a number of specialist interventions to address knife crime, domestic abuse and harmful sexual behaviour.
This is in addition to the assessment and interventions for children subject to out of court disposals, statutory court orders or engaging in preventative interventions.
We are currently based at the Orange Box in the centre of Halifax, however travel across Calderdale maybe required subject to the demands of the service. Travel to Bradford and Leeds Court is also an integral part of this post.
The post requires a relevant degree qualification in the following areas. Probation, Social Work, Teaching, Youth Work or Youth Justice.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a caseload of children mainly subject to statutory court orders and support the service requirements to supervise children in custody and support the services work in youth and crown courts.
We are looking to appoint a creative and child focused professional to join the team who has previous experience of working with children aged 10-18 years old.
You will be required to work as a member of the team, to support your colleagues and prevent and reduce offending by young people and children.
You will undertake comprehensive assessments and intervention programmes to national standards and be responsible for a caseload of young people who are subject to non-statutory and statutory interventions.
The role also includes working with parents and carers of young people. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills. The role will include working weekends and bank holidays as required.
