This is an exciting time to join our Barnsley Children’s Service’s as we seek an experienced social worker to join our newly contextual safeguarding and complex risk team.
This team is at the centre of our partnership safeguarding response to the challenges faced by children who are vulnerable to, or subject of exploitation and harm; who place themselves at risk through persistent missing episodes; and who may pose a risk to themselves and others through harmful sexual behaviours, or serious violence. We are looking for an inspirational and motivated professional to join the team and work directly with this group of children and their families and care network.
Working within our evolved youth Justice Service structure but managed by a social care team manager based in-service, you will have responsibility for working intensively, using flexible and evidence-based practice to support the needs of the children and their families and reduce risks posed.
In addition, you play a vital role in the wider partnership work taking place to further develop the partnership response to exploitation and complex risk at both a strategic and operational level.
In this role you will:
· Have a protected caseload that support intensive and creative practice with children and families
· Work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary model that is focused on innovative approaches to addressing contextual safeguarding issues
· Provide advice and guidance to peers and other professionals as part of the wider remit of the team
· Contribute to continuous professional development across the team and within wider children’s services
· Support processes to manage this cohort: MACE; partnership daily briefings; local and regional mapping processes;
You will have;
· A highly dynamic approach and the ability to thrive when working in a challenging and unpredictable environment
· A recognised social work qualification and registration with SWE
· Significant post qualification experience that enables you to drive effective practice and manage highly complex casework
· Experience of supporting staff
· A commitment to supporting the learning and development of others
· Knowledge and understanding of working with vulnerable young people
· Experience and knowledge of working with partners to address contextual safeguarding risks
· A clear motivation to work with adolescent children and young adults
