Assistant Service Manager – Youth Justice Service

The Sheffield Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency service comprising of four statutory agencies; Police, National Probation Service, Health and the Local Authority, each of whom holds a statutory responsibility for resourcing and supporting the partnership. Over the past years the Service has continued to further its relationship with the Police and Crime Commissioner who provides both strategic and financial support to the partnership.

We have an exciting opportunity for applications to our permanent Assistant Service Manager position in Youth Justice. You will have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Youth Justice policy and understanding of legislation and regulations, which underpin Youth Offending and Youth Crime Prevention and related fields.  You will have proven experience of effective multi-agency and partnership working across services for crime reduction, youth justice, education, social care, health, housing and the voluntary, community and faith sectors.

You will primarily be responsible for;

  • Managing the operations of a range of Youth Justice Services on a day to day basis, with direct operational control over elements of the service and in the absence of the Service Manager, to deputise for all aspects of service strategy and delivery within the Local Authority

  • To assist the Service Manager as part of the Youth Justice Service Senior Management Team in ensuring that effective systems are in place regarding the deployment of resources, performance management and strategic planning

  • Supervision of all Team Managers, ensuring the quality of work and service meets the priorities as set out in the Youth Justice Plan

  • Ensuring that operational service delivery meets requirements outlined within the Practice Standards for Children in the Youth Justice and is in line with the HMIP Framework.

  • Qualifications required are on the job description/person specification
